Guess what just happened? OTBR became tied for first place with a win in Week 10 of the MLB Pride league of CBS Sports Fantasy Baseball!
Thanks to Papa stacking his team with Kansas City Royals players and the game getting rained out last night. Plus our last minute pickup of Jorge de la Rosa (who pitched two sick games, at least in terms of points) and benching Clay Buckholz (who bombed). And Basher showed they have some serious holes in their starting rotation and no business being in first all alone by losing hard last week.
We’re in a tight division, but we’re on top tied with Basher. Two teams tied for second and only 1 game behind us. Now that we’re on top, we need to open up the lead, because only the top two teams from each division make it to the playoffs. It’s a long season, but it would be nice to give us some room now.
And we had a nice gift in the fact that Justin Verlander is back and pitched a heck of a game in his first start off the DL. Maybe give him a couple more starts before throwing him in our rotation. I’m sure Brad Asmus wants to make sure he gets his arm in late inning strength before he lets him go too deep, which I’m fine with because he’ll be the freshest arm as the season gets to September.
So we dropped Buckholz to add John Lackey, who has pitched pretty well so far and has two starts this week against weak hitting teams. Even though De la Rosa was awesome last week, he has only has one start this week and it is at Coors field aka Pitchers Worst Nightmare Park, so he’ll be on the bench this week. Hitter are the same as last week, hopefully they hit. Fingers crossed that we can take sole possession of first this week!
