Week 21 just started, so why an update already?? Because we already won!! How is that you ask? Because our opponent, XoloPound, has graciously forfeited.
It must be because we are just such an intimidating force. But they have an illegal lineup, so they get no points for the week. As long as we manage at least 1 point, we win this week!! Well done, Team OTBR, well done.
Hopefully Basher and Murphy10 can take a loss this week. Unfortunately, it looks like their opponents have given up on the rest of the season, so we’re not likely to gain any ground on them this week. At least we’re guaranteed to not lose ground.
We have 2 games left this season, and they are against Basher next week and Murphy10 the last week. We need these wins. Actually, we need the win against Murphy10 the final week, and we’re a lock for the fantasy baseball
playoffs. Otherwise, we have to beat Basher next week and Murphy10 has to lose next week to Papa. Fortunately for us, Papa is in first place in the Western Division, and has the strongest team in the league.
The only way Basher is out of the playoffs is if they basically lose out, Murphy10 wins out, and our only loss is against Murphy10, I think.
The only way Murphy10 gets in the playoffs is if they win this week (likely to do so), and either we lose the last two weeks, or we both win or both lose next week and they beat us the final week.
If we win out, then we’re in, and I think we can beat both Basher and Murphy10.
What is up for Week 22?
Now it’s definitely time to be considering dropping Jose Fernandez if he’s not on the short side of that 15 day DL. But considering the Marlins are out, they might just shut him down for the rest of the season or give him some limited work. Even if he returns, he wouldn’t be much of an upgrade on a week to week basis over someone who we could just pick up.
We need solid 2 start pitchers who are on teams in the hunt, so they are basically guaranteed to start. Bartolo Colon is currently the only available pitcher with two starts, and they are good looking match ups against the Phillies and Marlins who aren’t exactly offensively scary. Otherwise, we could go with Jason Hammel or Dan Haren, both starting against the weak Reds with a lot at stake for the Cubs.
Fortunately, we have Verlander, Santiago, Gonzalez and Lackey with 2 starts next week, so we should have plenty of opportunities to score.
