Can you say division win? Well now you can! Because it just happened.
This week‘s win over MadBumss created separation putting them 2 games behind us. Unfortunately, Basher, the division leader, and Murphy10, tied with us in second place, also won. So nothing changed in the standings there. Team OTBR is still behind Murphy10 in points and tied 1-1 in the season series with them, so we really need to beat them with our record.
Team OTBR has 4 games left in the regular season. This week is against PGH Best 1, who is last in our division and has basically given up. Next week is XOLO Pound, who is basically eliminated from the West division. But our last 2 games are against Basher then Murphy10. Those last two games will basically determine if we’re in the playoffs. Can we prepare for the last 2 weeks? Not sure how we can do that, but if there’s a strategy, let’s consider it! Fortunately, Basher and Murphy10 play this week, so that should be interesting.
With 4 weeks left in the regular season, we are in the race!
We can’t consider PGH Best a guaranteed win, but let’s make moves considering our last 2 games.
Now what to do for Week 20?
We demoted Justin Verlander because he was sucking the life out of us. This week, he beat out Shields who has been up and down. Looking back about 10 weeks, the two switch places consistently for the worst and second worst pitchers on our team. But then Verlander had two amazing games against the Red Sox and Astros. Time to put Verlander back in? Does Shields need a week off? Should we look for a new pitcher?
With that, we have Freddie Freeman on the DL – is it time to dump him? Yes! Dropping Freeman and picking up a pitcher is a smart move. Having an extra pitcher on staff gives us a chance of having more 2 start pitchers going forward. We just have to hope that no position players go on the DL. But I think our entire league is playing with that risk, so we can just assume that everyone is going to stay healthy, and adjust if we need to. Like Mike Leake who is just coming off the DL.
